What is Native Hard Sparkling? ↓

Native Hard Sparkling is a low-calorie, low-carb and low-sugar alcoholic beverage that is made in New Zealand. Native Hard Sparkling is made simply with sparkling water, fermented and distilled cane sugar, natural flavour and stevia.

Wait, what?! There’s alcohol in this?! ↓

Yep! Native Hard Sparkling is 4.6% alc/vol (1.2 standard drinks per can). Because it’s made with 4 simple, paired-back ingredients - it can be hard to taste the alcohol – but trust us, it’s there alright!

Why is it called Native? ↓

It’s a drink by Kiwis for kiwis – literally. 10% of profits go towards making a positive difference to New Zealand native species. Please let the team know your favourite conservation groups and/or programs that you would suggest we support – chuck us an email at kiaora@nativesparkling.nz

Why a Pīwakawaka (fantail)? ↓

The famous ‘cheet cheet’ and cheeky, energetic flying antics – how cool is it to have a Native Species of NZ be so abundant. Our vision is to see all NZ Native Species (trees, plants, sea-life included) thrive in this way and become a fundamental part of your walk to work, stroll on the beach or hike in the hills.

What flavours do you make? ↓

We currently offer Lemon & Yuzu, Apple & Feijoa and Berry & Blackcurrant - with more flavours being developed and tested in our workshop as we speak! Follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date on what we’re up to, and where Native’s going next.

What alcohol do you use? ↓

Native Hard Sparkling is not vodka or gin. We are not beer either. We wanted a drink that was stripped back even further. Which is why we chose to use a natural fermentation of sugar cane molasses, using distillers yeast and water. Our beverage also does not contain any Nano materials and all raw materials used in this process are not GMO modified.

Bit more science: Beer is usually made by fermenting malted barley, a complex carbohydrate. Native Hard Sparkling is made by fermenting simpler sugars, like cane sugar. If made properly, the result of fermenting cane sugar is an alcohol base with very little to no residual carbs and sugar.

Who are you as a company? ↓

We are a team of four with a love for the environment! We wanted to make change; we also wanted to have fun! This combination birthed Native Hard Sparkling and the rest is history.
